DGDESIGN was delighted to be selected by East Midlands Railway to support the development of its rolling stock fleets, including new Aurora bi-mode trains from Hitachi. Initially we helped establish a clear brand design vision and visual language for overall ambience and key touchpoints. We then developed interior CMF and focussed on enhancing the seating design based on a service-proven donor product. Working closely with EMR and Hitachi, we focussed on creating a timeless, sophisticated interior with comfort, ease of use and ease of maintenance at its heart. We also consulted on the exterior design alongside Hitachi and Giugiaro Architettura and developed the exterior paint and livery scheme. Beyond the new trains, we have also supported the exterior and interior design of refurbished trains, and on interim branding for legacy rolling stock.
